ENSEMBLE DESCRIPTION
The ensemble will build the world of the play as Jasmine sees it, beginning with embodying the physical life of the high school, and evolving to metaphorically represent Jasmine’s mental and emotional state.
We are looking to cast any gender and ethnicity for the ensemble.
CASTING NOTE
This play depicts the age gap and power dynamic within a teacher-student relationship.
TIME COMMITMENT
The ensemble will be at rehearsal starting on November 12, and will spend around 9 hours per week at rehearsals (times are flexible).
You must also be at tech on Nov. 25-26 and Dec. 2-4 from 6-11pm.
Performances are Dec. 5-7 at 8pm and Dec. 8 at 2pm
SYNPOSIS
When Jasmine visits her alma mater in China, she's longing to meet Ellie again — her former English teacher from America, who was once her longtime mentor and confidante. As Jasmine reckons with her memories of the four years they shared, she finds herself treading a fine line between respect and idolatry, expectations and reality, admiration and love. A coming-of-age story that examines the cost of crossing borders.
