Through a series of nine episodes, we follow a young woman’s journey as societal demands of marriage, motherhood, and work clash with her yearning for freedom.

In a run-down movie theater in central Massachusetts, three underpaid employees mop the floors and attend to one of the last 35mm film projectors in the state. Their tiny battles and not-so-tiny heartbreaks play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the lackluster, second-run movies on screen.

Gerty and Dee are in the midst of a rocky time in their relationship. Three Muses, who are inspired by West African orisha, show up disguised as 1970s R&B singers to help them work it out. Fren, their nosy neighbor gets involved, and all sorts of mayhem ensues as the Muses attempt to work their magic.
