Shannon Constantine

Biography

Shannon’s work focuses on performance art, materialities, and memory, with an emphasis on Sri Lanka. She is curious about the links between performance (both as event and as everyday reality) and the violence, oppression, and political control that extends from Sri Lanka’s history into its present. She is especially interested in tracing the idea of power as contained in and unsettled by performance.

Shannon holds a B.A. (Honours) in English from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and an M.A. in English from McGill University, Canada. Her research has been published in Society and Culture in South Asia and Liminalities: A Journal of Performance Studies.
