Biography

Courtney Lau is a mover and scholar, who works between queer theory, black performance studies, media studies, and dance studies. Her research turns to performance in search of capacious representations of queerness. Grounding her research in her body, she maintains a movement practice and participates in ballroom culture, walking balls in both the United States and the United Kingdom. She holds a B.A. in the History of Art from Haverford College, where she was a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow. Through a US-UK Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarship, she holds a M.A. in Dance Studies from the University of Roehampton in London.
