Students will engage in a process of exploration that centers on the physical relationship of the performer to the physical reality of the stage. This survey class introduces a range of movement styles and practices with a special focus on non-western traditions including: Yin yoga; Butoh, RasaBoxes, Boal, and African Dance. We'll also explore Viewpoints, Mask Improvisation, Contact Improv, Unarmed Stage Combat, Laban and more! This class invites and welcomes all abilities and experience levels. Come dressed to move and be ready to feel invigorated, creatively inspired and alive!

Class Location: Lyman Hall Rm 026-Ashamu Dance Studio (located in the lower level Lyman Hall-look for the big blue bear outside)

Class Meeting Times: Tues/Thurs 1pm-3:50pm
