TAPS announces continued hiatus for Playwrights Rep in 2016.

The Department of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies announces a continued hiatus for the Brown/Trinity Playwrights Repertory Theatre season in 2016.

TAPS logoPlaywrights Rep has been a central feature in the New England performance calendar and a fertile ground for the development of new work and new writers for many years. The program has continually evolved, shifting its form to meet the needs of the emerging writers it supports and the audiences that have loyally attended the summer festival year after year.

Last year, the Department of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies at Brown University announced a hiatus in the popular summer season. This break was designed to create time for department faculty to vision new ways of supporting writing for performance and other trends in the field. As time passed, and with summer 2016 looming in view, it became clear that further time is needed to fully develop these exciting new plans. Therefore, we have taken the decision to continue the hiatus for another year.

We continue to deeply appreciate your ongoing support and patience. We look forward to communicating further news with you through our mailing lists and this website. We are grateful that you have chosen to move forward with us as we explore new ways to create dynamic and challenging new performance work.

Best Wishes
