Audition Notice

The Flick by Annie Baker
directed by Eric Hadley '26

Performances:
December 4 - 7

In a run-down movie theater in central Massachusetts, three underpaid employees mop the floors and attend to one of the last 35mm film projectors in the state. Their tiny battles and not-so-tiny heartbreaks play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the lackluster, second-run movies on screen. With keen insight and a finely-tuned comic eye, The Flick is a hilarious and heartrending cry for authenticity in a fast-changing world.

Character Descriptions

Provided by the script

Sam, 35

Shaved head. Caucasian. He often wears a beat-up Red Sox cap. He used to be very into Heavy Metal.

Avery, 20African-American. Bespectacled. He wears red slightly European-looking sneakers. In love with the movies.
Rose, 24Caucasian. Sexually magnetic, despite the fact that (or partly because?) her clothes are baggy, she never wears makeup and her hair is dyed forest-green.

Skylar/The Dreaming Man, 26
